The pavements of Venetian palaces tell a story of trompe-l'oeil: flat tiles that simulate volumes, mosaics that hollow out the surface and create the illusion of a relief that doesn't exist. It is this tension between the flatness of the material and the illusion of depth that Optical Palazzo seeks to transpose.
The patterns play on modular repetition, rhythm, and the alternation of values. Compositions that move without seeking to invade the space, establishing a strong and silent graphic presence. Hand-tufted in New Zealand wool, with carved sections that give each design the structure and depth of an architectural floor.
